We further certify that our Spirulina (Arthrospira platensis)
cultivated by our 100% capitalized subsidiaries, such as Earthrise
Nutritionals, LLC in USA, Hainan DIC Microalgae Co., Ltd. in P.
R. China, is produced under the same biologically-controlled cultivation.
And we further certify that our Spirulina is 100% pure having no dyes,
no preservatives, no pesticides, no genetically modified organism.
In addition, we do not do irradiation on our products at all which
is officially proven by Tokyo Metropolitan Industrial Technology Research
Institute by the authorized method in EU (CEN EN1788(2001)).
Positive feedback for DIC Spirulina
In 1991, Dainippon Ink and Chemicals, Inc (current name: DIC Corporation) donated spirulina to the children who had become
victims of the nuclear power plant disaster in Chernobyl, the former
Soviet Union.
Then, it was soon recognized that spirulina reduces the radiation level
of the body.
Dainippon Ink and Chemicals, Inc (current name: DIC Corporation) also donated spirulina to the child refugees from the former
Yugoslavia living in hospitals in the Republic of Croatia, in response
to a request made by the UN WHO in 1993.
The WHO praised spirulina, stating that “it is an excellent
food especially rich in iron and protein, and there are no safety
concerns at all; therefore, it is very useful for children, an
ideal food which can be used as a nutritional supplement.”
In 2002, we donated spirulina through the China’s Red Cross
and the provincial Red Cross office of Tsingtao to those who were
engaged in medical services at the forefront of the SARS crisis
for the purpose of promoting nutritional supplementation and health
maintenance.
In 2003, based on the technical data submitted, the U.S. FDA (Food
and Drug Administration) approved spirulina as GRAS in response
to a petition jointly filed by Cyanotech and Earthrise (DIC’s
subsidiary).
DIC LIFETEC CO., LTD. (Japan), EARTHRISE NUTRITIONALS LLC (USA), and HAINAN DIC MICROALGAE CO., Ltd. announced the publication of a validated method for measuring phycocyanin, the blue bilin pigment in Spirulina.
